Helen is the daughter of Kathleen Alexandrina Eva Matilda (Rogers) and Vasiliy Petrovich Mironov, later known as Basil Mironoff. Her father was of Russian descent, and was a viola player with the London Philharmonic Orchesta, as well as a cab driver, driving-test examiner, and civil servant. Her mother was English. Helen was raised in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. She is married to American director Taylor Hackford.
Helen’s paternal grandfather was a Russian arms dealer who went to England to buy arms for use in WWI. However, he could not go back to Russia due to the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, and stayed in London with his family. He subsequently worked as a taxi driver. Helen’s father grew up in England.
Helen has evidently stated that her mother had Romani ancestry. It is not clear if this claim has been verified/documented.
Helen’s paternal cousin was actress and model Tania Mallet.
Helen’s paternal grandfather was Pyotr Vasilievich Mironov (the son of Vasily Mironov and Countess Lidia/Lydia Andreevna Kamenskaya). Pyotr was born in the Russan Empire. Countess Lidia was the daughter of Count Andrey/Andrei Sergeyevich Kamensky and Lubov Fedorovna/Federovna Nadervil. Helen’s great-great-grandfather Count Andrey was the son of Sergey/Sergei Mikhailovich Kamensky and Ekaterina Fedorovna/Federovna Levshina. Sergey was the son of Mikhail Fedotovich Kamensky and Anna Pavlovna Scherbatova. Mikhail Kamensky (1738 – 1809), Helen’s great-great-great-great-grandfather, was a Field Marshal and a member of the Russian nobility, who fought in the Napoleonic campaigns and Catherinian wars.
Helen’s paternal grandmother was named Maria/Mary “Marusia”/”Maroussia” Sinchugova/Sinchougova/Sinchougoff.
Helen’s maternal grandfather was Arthur Rogers (the son of Henry Rogers and Matilda Bayley). Arthur was born in Clerkenwell, London, and was said to have been a butcher for Queen Victoria. Henry was the son of James Rogers and Hannah. Matilda was the daughter of William Bayley and Matilda Yates.
Helen’s maternal grandmother was Elizabeth Sarah Jones (the daughter of Samuel Radford Jones and Harriett Goddard). Elizabeth was born in Westminster, London. Samuel was the son of Thomas Jones and Elizabeth. Harriett was the daughter of James Goddard and Harriett/Harriott/Harriot Colyer.

Helen’s paternal grandmother name was Maria (nickname Maroussia).
Helen’s paternal grandmother was Lidia Andreevna Kamenskaya. She was the great-granddaughter of Count Mikhail Fedotovich Kamensky a Russian Field Marshal prominent in the Napoleonic campaigns. Mikhail and his wife Anna Pavlovna Scherbatova (descendant of Rurik) had son Sergey. Sergey married Ekaterina Fedorovna Levshina, and their son Andrey and his wife Lubov Fedorovna Nadervil were parents of Lidia.
Thank you. Do you know anything about the genealogy of her paternal grandfather?
No, but I still try to search.
Thank you. I added your information on Mirren and Milla Jovovich.
Wait a minute – I think Lidia Andreevna Kamenskaya was actually Mirren’s paternal great-grandmother, wasn’t she? The mother of Helen’s paternal grandfather, Pyotr Vasilievich Mironov. That would make more sense.

So the identity of Helen’s paternal grandmother is less clear.
You know, the vast majority of the articles says she Helen’s grandmother (this is probably a mistake, which was common), but this link is interesting. In the photo where Helen and her sister in Moscow at the tomb of their ancestors (including Lidia and her grandfather Pyotr) you can see the date of birth: Lidia Andreevna 1843 (8?) – 1928, and Pyotr 1880-1957. Lidia too old to be a Helen’s grandmother, and Pyotr’s wife, so she probably really great-grandmother. But it is strange that there is no any information about Helen grandmother, even just a name… http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-470030/Helen-Mirren-reveals-joy-meeting-Russian-relatives.html
Yes, Lidia’s birthdate matches with her being Helen’s great-grandmother. Also, Mikhail Kamensky is usually described as having been Helen’s four times great-grandfather, which only works out with Lidia being Helen’s great-grandmother.
I assume Helen’s paternal grandmother was born in Russia and died in England.
Curious if shes related 2 a famous Soviet actor Andrey Mironoff
Wow,I never knew she had a Russian name.
Her mother claims gypsy heritage
