Geraldine Fitzgerald was an Irish and American actress.
She was born in Greystones, County Wicklow, Ireland, the daughter of Edith Catherine (Richards) and Edward Martin FitzGerald, a lawyer. She moved to the U.S. in 1938, and became an American citizen during World War II. She was married to American businessperson, journalist, politician, and golfer Stuart Straus Scheftel. She had a son, television, film, music video, and theatre director Sir Michael Edward Lindsay-Hogg, 5th Baronet, with her former husband, Sir Edward Lindsay-Hogg, 4th Bt.; and a daughter with Stuart. Stuart was a grandson of businessperson and politician Isidor Straus and his wife Ida Straus; who both died on the Titanic in 1912.
Geraldine’s maternal grandfather was John William Richards (the son of Arthur Oswald Richards and Maria McMahon). Arthur was the son of John Richards and Catherine Molony. Maria was the daughter of Edward Reeves McMahon.
Geraldine’s maternal grandmother was Adelaide Prudentia Roper (the daughter of William Roper and Georgina Green). Georgina was the daughter of Murdock Green.
