Edward Woodward was an English actor and singer. His roles include the films Incense for the Damned, Young Winston, The Wicker Man (1973), Breaker Morant, Who Dares Wins, Champions (1984), King David (1985), Mister Johnson, and Hot Fuzz, and the title characters of the shows Callan and the 1980s The Equalizer; as well as many stage performances.
Edward was the son of Violet Edith (Smith) and Edward Oliver Woodward, a metalworker. His neighbourhood was bombed several times during the Blitz.
He was married to actress Michele Dotrice, until his death. Michele was the daughter of actor Roy Dotrice. He had three children, actors Tim Woodward, Peter Woodward, and Sarah Woodward, with his former wife, actress Venetia Barrett; and a daugter with Michele. Peter was also a screenwriter and stuntperson.
