Ed McMahon was an American announcer, game show host, comedian, actor, singer, and combat aviator. He was the sidekick and announcer for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, from 1962 to 1992. He also hosted the television show Star Search, and co-hosted Who Do You Trust?, with Carson, TV’s Bloopers & Practical Jokes, and the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. He appeared in films including The Incident, Fun with Dick and Jane (1977), Full Moon High, Bewitched (2005), and The Weather Man.

Ed was mostly raised in Lowell, Massachusetts, the son of Eleanor Mabel, a theatre actress, and Edward Leo Peter McMahon, who was a traveling salesman and entertainer. He also lived in New York, New Jersey, and Maine during his childhood, and spent time as a carnival barker at Mexico, Maine. His father was from Massachusetts. His mother was from Pennsylvania. Ed was married to Pamela “Pam” Hurn, until his death. He had four children with his former wife Alyce Ferrell; and a daughter with his former wife Victoria Valentine.

Ed’s paternal grandfather was named John Joseph Francis McMahon (the son of James McMahon and Ann). John was born in Massachusetts, to Irish parents.

Ed’s paternal grandmother was Catherine Fitzgerald (the daughter of Maurice/Morris Fitzgerald and Catherine Guthrie). Ed’s grandmother Catherine was born in Massachusetts, to Irish parents. Maurice was the son of Thomas Fitzgerald and Catherine. Ed’s great-grandmother Catherine was the daughter of Matthew Guttery and Margaret.

Ed’s maternal grandfather was named Thomas C. Russell. Thomas was English.

Ed’s maternal grandmother was Anna/Annie Jane Lukens/Luckins (the daughter of William Lukens/Luckins and Aquilla Louisianna Reber). Anna was born in Pennsylvania, and was of mostly or entirely Pennsylvania Dutch (German) descent. William was the son of William Lukens/Luckins and Margaret Bingaman. Aquilla was the daughter of Samuel M. Reber and Elizabeth Reed.
