Denis Shapovalov is an Israeli-Canadian professional tennis player.

He was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, to Russian-born parents, Tessa and Viktor Shapovalov. His father is of Russian Orthodox background. His mother is Jewish. His family moved to Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, during his early childhood.

His mother was born in Lviv, Ukraine, and was on the Soviet national tennis team, later becoming a coach.
