She was discovered by Prince at age eighteen, and was the choreographer for his music video “Breakfast Can Wait.” DaniLeigh writes songs in Spanish as well as English, and has said that she is proud to represent her Dominican heritage. She is black in society. She has over a quarter of black blood and she also has black features despite having light skin. I for one am happy more Dominicans are claiming their blackness because I would get so offended when they would deny being black.
Why does it “offend” you when Dominicans don’t identify as “black”? How does their racial identity affect your personal life? Most Dominicans are multiracial of spanish, black and taino. Why would they solely claim “black” when they have other admixture in their family line? Most of them are too racially ambiguous to just be considered “black”. Dominicans do not go by that stupid one drup rule. Leave these people alone.
