D. J. Caruso is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is known for his films Taking Lives, Disturia, and I Am Number Four, among others.

D. J. is the son of Lorraine and Daniel Caruso. He is married to actress Holly Kuespert, with whom he has five children.

D. J.’s maternal grandfather was Fred/Ferdinand Zullo, Sr. (the son of Lorenzo/Laranzo Zullo and Constantina/Marry Marro). Fred was born in Claremont, New Hampshire, to Italian parents. Lorenzo was from Cervinara, Avellino, Campania.

D. J.’s maternal grandmother was Maria Mezzo (the daughter of Salvatore Mezzo and Rosaria/Rose Pacifico). Maria was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Italian parents, who were born in Mondragone, Caserta, Campania. Salvatore was the son of Francesco Mezzo.
