Cristóbal Balenciaga was a Spanish fashion designer. He founded the Balenciaga fashion house.

Cristóbal was the son of María Martina Eizaguirre Embil and José Balenciaga Basurto/Bazurto. His father was a fisherman, who died when Cristobal was a child. His mother was a seamstress.
