On his father’s side, Cortney appeares to be a descendant of Moses “Raphael” Levy, a Jewish merchant, who was born, c. 1665, in Germany, and of his wife, Rycha Michaels Asher de Paul, who was born, c. 1667, in New York.

Cortney’s paternal grandfather is Leo D. Palm (who likely was the son of Leo Henning Palm/Palen and Bernardine Alice Harris). Cortney’s great-grandfather Leo was born in Arkansas, the son of George Leonard “Leo” Palm, who was Swedish, and of Stella M. Combs. Bernardine was born in Ohio, the daughter of Theodore William Harris and Eunice Crown.

Cortney’s paternal grandmother is Nita Louise Poffel (the daughter of Milton Francis Poffel and Rita Mary Zinser). Nita was born in Texas. Milton was born in Maryland, the son of Frank Edward C.
