Carol Forman was an American actress. She was known for playing villains, perhaps most prominently as Sombra, the title character in the movie serial The Black Widow (1947). She also played the Spider Lady in the Superman serial in 1948.

Carol was the eldest of two daughters of Annabelle and Edward Dial Sawls, a carpenter. She was married to William Dennis, until his death. Her surname was from her former husband Robert Forman.

Carol’s paternal grandfather was William Benjamin Sawls (the son of James Sawls and Melissa Braswell). William was born in Alabama.

Carol’s paternal grandmother was Ella Jane Dial (the daughter of William H. Dial and Ella Jane Craig). Carol’s grandmother Ella was born in Alabama. William was the son of Jeremiah Dial, whose parents were Irish, from Dublin; and of Summer Hopper, whose father was also Irish. Carol’s great-great-great-great-grandparents, Jeremiah Dial and Margaret Lavender Montgomery, were common ancestors with actress Jody Lawrance, making them fifth cousins.

Carol’s maternal grandfather was George Luther Fleming (the son of George W. Fleming and Mary Ann Davis). Carol’s grandfather George was born in Alabama. Carol’s great-grandfather George was the son of Samuel Fleming and Ruanna Lewis. Mary was the daughter of Thomas Davis and Eliza Ann Neal.

Carol’s maternal grandmother was named Dolly Ann Weeks (the daughter of William R. Weeks and Synthia Caroline). Dolly was born in Alabama. William was the son of James Weeks and Sarah Webb.
