Brian McCann is an American professional baseball player. He was a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB), for the Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, and Houston Astros.

Brian is the son of Sherry and Howard McCann. He is married to Ashley Jarusinski, with whom he has two children. His step-brother, through his mother’s remarriage, is professional baseball player Mark Teixeira.

Brian’s paternal grandfather was William N. McCann (the son of Peter Cornelius “Neil” McCann and Charlotte Amelia Sill). William was born in New York. Brian’s great-grandfather Neil was of Irish origin, and was the son of Simon J. McCann and Mary A. Lenehan. Charlotte was born in New York, to German parents, William Sill and Augusta Kosbob.

Brian’s paternal grandmother was Mildred A. “Millie” Czirr (the daughter of Edward William Czirr and Louise Anna Schmidt/Smith). Millie was born in New York. Edward was the son of Albert Czirr and Henriette Caroline Sill. Louise was the daughter of Henry C. Schmidt/Smith, who was born in Germany, and of Mary Shurr, who was born in New York, to German parents.

Brian’s maternal grandfather was Gerald T. Brown (the son of Edgar Michael Brown and Alice Bell Newcombe). Gerald was born in New York. Edgar was the son of John Brown, who was born in Ireland, and of Margaret Dowd, who was born in New York, to Irish parents. Alice was the daughter of Arthur James Newcombe and Inez Phoebe Griffith.
