Bobby Bonilla is an American professional baseball player. A third baseman and outfielder, he is known for his time playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Mets.

Bobby is the son of Regina and Roberto/Robert Bonilla. He has two children with his former wife Migdalia “Millie.”

Bobby’s paternal grandfather was Bernadino/Bernardino/Bernard Bonilla (the son of Juan/John Bonilla and Maria/Mary Regla). Bernadino was born in New York, to Cuban parents.

Bobby’s paternal grandmother was Nieves Garcia (the daughter of Martin Garcia and Catalina Aguilar). Nieves was Puerto Rican, from San Juan. Martin was the son of Martin Garcia and Cecila Rivera. Catalina was the daughter of Evaristo Aguilar and Lorenza del Rosario.

Bobby’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Gissentanner. Most people with the name were African-American, from South Carolina.

    First of all, Mr postman, I think you stole my name and we’re gonna settle this when I see you! Secondly, Bobby Bonilla’s father and grandfather are listed as Black or “Negro” on the Censuses I provided, so why is the father’s ethnicity not listed as “African-Cuban” like I submitted. Did you have something to do with that, Mr postman?!

    NOTE: I was not able to find any info on the parents of Regina Gissentanner aka Regina Bonilla-Rodriguez. According to my research, all people named Gissentanner who have lived in New York City since 1925 were African-American with roots in South Carolina. I found no evidence of Gissentanners in Latin America.
