Betty Cantrell is an American beauty pageant titleholder. She was named Miss America 2016.

Betty is the daughter of Anastasia and Michael “Mike” Cantrell. Her name, Baciliky, comes from the Greek word “Βασιλική” (pronounced “Vasiliki”), and means “royalty.”

She has stated:

My mother’s mother was named Vasiliki, and her American nickname was Betty. My mom said that when she had a daughter she would name her Vasiliki and call her Betty, so here I am.

One of Betty’s paternal great-grandfathers was an opera singer in his native Germany.

Betty’s paternal grandfather is Boyd Theodore Cantrell, Jr. (the son of Boyd Theodore Cantrell and Willie Woods). Betty’s grandfather Boyd was born in Alabama. Betty’s great-grandfather Boyd was the son of William Wiley Cantrell and Mary Elizabeth Landrum. Willy was the daughter of William Franklin Woods and Josephine Tarrence Zuber.

Betty’s paternal grandmother is named Lieselotte/Lottie Rose Wutzer.
