Arky Vaughan was an American professional baseball player. He was a shortstop. In 1985, Arky was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Arky was the son of Laura Vonna (Denney) and Robert Vaughan. He was married to Margaret, with whom he had four children. His nephew, Glenn Vaughan, was also a professional baseball player.
Arky’s paternal grandfather was Pleasant Matthew Vaughan (the son of Benjamin Franklin Vaughan and Cherubia Ann “Cherry” Harp). Pleasant was born in Arkansas. Benjamin was the son of Captain James L. Vaughan and Martha Patty Vaughan. Cherubia was the daughter of Beverly Harp and Sarah Dickerson.
