Ari Shavit is an Israeli reporter and writer. He is known for his book My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel.

Ari is the son of Rachel and Nechemia Shavit.

Ari’s maternal grandfather was named Joseph Bentwich (the son of Herbert Bentwich). Joseph was born in London, England. Herbert was the son of Marks Bentwich, who was born in Poland, and of Rose Levy, who was born in the United Kingdom.

Ari’s maternal grandmother was Sarah Yaffe (the daughter of Hillel Yaffe and Rikva Glickstein). Hillel was born in Ukraine, the son of Yermiyahu Joffe, who was born in Lithuania, and of Duva.
