I know first hands that most American confuse nationality with Race. Antonio Banderas is WHITE of spanish heritage and nationality. The confusion is further exacerbated when you have Americans who claim that anybody with a spanish surname isn’t White and try to be politically correct or unoffensive by calling people of mixed races spanish. This why Mexicans love to be called spanish. When that name got a negative connotation they were called hispanic and then latino. American ignorance ruins it for people who are truly white of Spanish origins. Many Americans can tell you facts about celebrity gossip, but they can’t even name the branches of government! Its true look it up on credible sources. Then you have American ignorance of supposed God-fearing christians promoting hate but don’t even know the names of the books in the bible. So don’t be offended real,white-spaniards, America’s ignorance currently catching up to them. As you know Karma. Soon American will be a race in other places in world associating them with brown people, even if some are white. Karma is $%^&*! I definitely agree with you Alex! However, we are all not as ignorant as the corn-fed inbreeds of the south and mid-west ;). Many Americans just don’t feel the need to learn about culture. Spain is part of Europe, and native Europeans are White ethnically. Native Spaniards are White, and not to be confused with Spaniards whose ancestors came from other countries and settled in Spain such as from the the Middle East & Mexico.
@ANON yes majority of Spainards are white! Spanish people can range in looks as from being as darks as a brownish skinned Arab to light as blonde pale skinned nordic person! Typically they are not dark as your average Arabs (Saudis,Egyptians,Algerians etc.) but aren’t light as your average nordic peoples (Norwegians,Swedes,Danes,Finns etc.), they are something in the middle of that, more like light or olive skin tone with generally brown hair and eye colours can change from dark to light! Spanish people are generally I would say the same skin color as Italians or Portuguese people, or basically all southern europeans!

Spaniard or Spanish means someone from Spain whether they are white, yellow or brindle. If you are from Mexico you are Mexican or Boliva you would be Bolivian. People from Mexico or Boliva might speak Spanish but they are not Spanish. Americans speak English but they are not English.
Just to clarify Antonio Banderas is full Spanish so his ethnicity is Spanish as well as his nationality. If you were from Mexico and your full ancestry was Spanish this would be your ethnicity as well. You would be Mexican of Spanish ethnicity or American or Irish ethnicity.

difference between “spanish” people- Puerto rican, dominican republic, haiti, cuba to name a few are west Indian islands or west indies i.e Caribbean islands and if you don’t believe me then go look it up on wiki or look in a geography or history books. majority of the islands are inhabited by blacks/ biracial blacks who for some reason won’t say their either west indian. black or biracial black but would rather say their “spanish” alot of shit went down on those islands b/c of crazy dictators who couldn’t deal with their own ethnicity and themselves and put their own people in fear of being killed if they considered themselves to be black. so the whole “i’m spanish!!!! i’m latin!!!!” shit you hear was just done so they wouldn’t get killed back then.
