Antoine Griezmann is a French professional footballer. He plays as a forward for La Liga club Atlético Madrid and the France national team.
Antoine is the son of Isabelle and Alain Griezmann. His father is of at least part German descent. His mother is of Portuguese ancestry; her family is from Paços de Ferreira. At fourteen, he left France for the academy at Real Sociedad, the Spanish football club, based in the city of San Sebastián, Basque Country. Because of this, in France he has been regarded as more Spanish than French by the local press.
Antoine is married to Erika Choperena, who is from Basque country in Spain. The couple has three children.
Antoine’s paternal great-grandparents were Emile Léger Grieszmann and Marie Grieszmann. Marie was the daughter of Victor Ernest Grieszmann, who was born in Meung-sur-Loire, Loiret, France, and of Marie Stéphanie Zeph, who was born in Pas-de-Calais, France; they were of German descent. Antoine’s great-grandparents were cousins.
Antoine’s maternal grandfather was named Amaro Lopes. Amaro was a footballer for F.C. Paços de Ferreira.

A weird way to the top. Constantly rejected or dismissed due to his height & frame in France but manages to become a sensation in Spain. Also, his ethnic history is really intriguing. If I remember correctly, he is related to royalty going way back.
how do you know he’s related to royalty?
I remember reading an article that stated he was related to either prominent people in Germany or some type of noblemen, “Royalty” was probably the wrong word on my part. If I can find the article i will add it here.
