Alistair Overeem is a Dutch mixed martial artist and kickboxer. He was a Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, a DREAM Heavyweight Champion, and a K-1 World Grand Prix Champion. He is one of only two fighters to have held world titles in both MMA and K-1 kickboxing at the same time.
Alistair was born in Hounslow, London, England, to a Jamaican father and a Dutch mother. His brother is mixed martial artist and kickboxer Valentijn Overeem. His parents divorced when he was six years old, and he and his mother relocated to the Netherlands.
I take it that Overeem is actually his mother’s surname, then? Do we know anything about his father beyond that he was from Jamaica?
