Mark’s paternal grandmother was Mary Augusta Horning (the daughter of George H. Horning and Wilhelmina Lutz). Mary was born in Baldwin Township, Pennsylvania. George was the son of Jacob Horning and Susan Linhart, and had some deep roots in the U.S. Wilhelmina was the daughter of German immigrants, August Lutz and Augusta Huth.
