    Hispanic->Puerto Rican [Spanish, African]

    • nika676767 says:

      Puerto Ricans also can have Native American descent ( Taino) . Not only Spanish and African.

      • andrew says:

        Definitely

      • Blahby says:

        Most of the Tainos were slaughtered early on. Puerto Ricans with a lot of Native ancestry…is usually because a Central or South American went to their country and mixed with them. Like my uncle was married to a PR woman, they divorced, and she moved back to PR with the kids. But they will make up many stories of a Taino grandmother which probably never existed. This is why Jennifer Lopez refused a DNA test on the George Lopez Show, while Jessica Alba didn’t (because she was open/not hiding anything). It’s funny how so many Puerto Ricans are now boasting about being Tainos when that’s probably the least of what they are. They’ve actively married whites and Mestizos…changing their African/Spanish bloodline to something else.

        Also, Mariah Carey was another one who refused a DNA test claiming she was just black…but her father was half Venezuelan, I believe. She is most likely around one quarter African descent. I just don’t understand why people can’t be honest.

          Pure speculation on my part, but I yes I agree, many Puerto Ricans don’t want to know their heritage through DNA analysis, because it may reveal Sub-Saharan heritage, and would prefer to be tied to the Tainos instead.

          Mariah has talked about her Venezuelan heritage on the George Lopez Show, although I believe she claimed it was her from her great-grandmother instead of grandmother. She considers herself black because of US racial classification, not because she denies her mixed heritage. It’s just easier for her to say she’s black, instead of saying the more accurate mix of white, black, and mestizo and/or indigenous American.
