Bakari Sellers, also known as Bakari T. Sellers, is an American attorney, political commentator, and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as a Member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from the 90th district, from December 2006 to December 2014.
Bakari is the son of Gwendolyn and Cleveland Sellers, who is an educator and veteran civil rights activist. He is married to chiropractor Ellen Rucker Carter, with whom he has two children.

On 1920 census all kids are listed as mulatto, and have Taggart’s last name, while in 1930, they have the name Edwards. in 1910, Susie is his ”housekeeper”. James’ previous ”cook” that he fathered several children with, was also black.
