Birth Name: Salli Elise Richardson

Place of Birth: Chicago, Illinois, U.S.

Date of Birth: November 23, 1967

Ethnicity:
*English, Italian (father)
*African-American (mother)

Salli Richardson, also credited as Salli Richardson-Whitfield, is an American actress and director. She is known for starring in the series Eureka.

Her father is white, and has English and Italian ancestry. Her mother is African-American. Salli has stated that her mother has Native American ancestry. It is not clear if this anestry has been verified/documented.

Salli is married to actor Dondre Whitfield, with whom she has two children.

She has stated:

I mean, yes, my father is Italian and English, and my mother’s got Indian in her, but when you look at my parents you see Black and White–two halves… I was raised around both my parents, and I knew that my father is White and my mother is Black, but I never thought that I was anything but Black. It never crossed my mind that I could be anything else. No one ever said anything; no one ever made any comments in my family. It was just never a question. I think being Black is a wonderful thing to claim.

often described as part Irish on father’s side

Her statements, she seems to have a problem with her European side. She isn’t black. She is black and white. If both her parents were Black Africans hen she would be black. But she is both. She needs to accept herself and have more respect for her dad’s side.

@ WTF, so you know everything huh? Unless you know it all, don’t make assumptions that all African-Americans aren’t 100% black. Something stupid to say because how would you know? I agree with exotiq. And people think there are so many black/ white and hispanic/ black babies popping out. Not the case at all. Has been happening since the beginning of time, it’s just more public now because social media spreads the word worldwide. Wasn’t websites like this back then!!

I’m Sorry But She Looks Like Your Everyday Indian Woman.

ShawntheGod July 27, 2014 at 9:01 pm

She looks Indian.

exotiq July 25, 2014 at 6:10 pm

@WTF …”no african american is 100% black” ??? …I think you’re reaching there to make a blanket statment like that. To say that ALL AAs are not 100% black is definately incorrect. I know many who keep their race pure. If it’s believable that there are whites who believe in racial purity, I’m certain that there are plenty of black families who practice the same philosophy. I know that it seems rare, especially these days, but there are indeed black folks who are very proud of their heritage and they prefer to keep it in the family. Also, not every AA in this country came from slavery either, there are some proud pure bloods, straight from the mother land of Africa.

WTF June 5, 2014 at 3:09 pm

she’s pretty and racially ambiguous. she looks like she could have some native american in her. but since most african americans have white and native american admixture, she could have n.a. in her. no african american is 100% black

Kauwwa (Raven) chuna (White Chalk) malne se (by Applying) Hans (White Swan) nahi banta (doesn’t make one).

The Beautiful Ones December 17, 2013 at 12:04 pm

Good for her! She accepts her blackness, I can’t stand when people who are mixed with black and something else deny their black side. Great for her

Multiethnicchick December 31, 2013 at 10:32 am

really, usually I see mixed people denying their white side or asian side, etc. Like that idiot Paula Patton

The Beautiful Ones January 7, 2014 at 10:12 am

She is not an idiot, she embraces her African American side, unlike people who try to play it off like it’s and keep it a secret, like black isn’t good enough: Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Mariah Carey, Tiger Woods, you need some more?

ihatemostpeople January 18, 2014 at 2:15 am

Paula Patton doesn’t look Black though. It’s obvious she’s half White. It’s very retarded to say she’s “just Black” when she doesn’t look like your average Black girl.

mia123w April 21, 2014 at 10:57 pm

You know what’s funny? You white people use to say if you have one drop of black you black and they didn’t even want mix people claiming they white side. Now all of a sudden y’all white people getting mad because mix people claim there black. The fuck are you getting mad for? That’s how it use to be what’s the sudden change?

MastorAaron May 23, 2014 at 7:21 pm

@ mia123w Really mainly it was the racists that made people like me “black.” The un-racist people realize after no black person will ever look that way without admixture, and don’t want the mixed aesthetics to replace the pure ones. Do you really want Mixed aesthetics to replace black and make us the new black? Because that truly would be racist. Most biracials had a hard time fitting in with either of their cultures and truly we have the right to self identify. And if you think you need more convincing here is a very informative video on the issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoYNbSc1BI4

Alice April 15, 2014 at 7:34 pm

Most of those people don’t deny their black side at all. They just recognised that they have other ancestries. A lot of these people including Salli Richardson have mixed ancestry so there is nothing wrong in coming to terms with this.

exotiq July 25, 2014 at 6:20 pm

@mia123w …lol You are cracking me up! What’s with the hostility of sensible people in this new generation seeing mixed people for what and who they truly are…mixed? Why are you all upset about that? …And it’s not “All of a sudden”…it’s been evolving for many years now…where have you been??? You almost act like you want it to be the way things used to be! …So since you love the past so much, you want to go back to being a slave too?! lol :) …Some people crack me up to no end! lol :) …They get mad about the past, then when things change for the better, they’re still mad!! lol :) …That just goes to show you, some people will always be miserable no matter what! lol :)

SHE SO HOT

I WANNA BANG HER

Spinneroonie March 14, 2012 at 10:09 am

let these women define who they want to be. The know calling themselves biracial don’t mean a ding dang thing in America. They are still black. PERIOD!

I love you, Roger Scientist March 14, 2012 at 11:08 am

I think Salli is beyond beautiful.

malaya84417 January 1, 2013 at 11:09 am

I remember first seeing Sallie Richardson in the movie “Posse” with Mario Van Peebles. I really liked the movie it is a very interesting movie.

Anisa Ali January 9, 2012 at 8:58 pm

I can definitely see the Italian side of her in her facial features but her skin tone gives that she also has African heritage. Beautiful!

Alice January 10, 2012 at 5:40 am

I agree Anisa. She is just gorgeous.

KEMET August 8, 2012 at 7:50 pm

she doesnt look italian at all

she looks just black like beyonce and all those

Jay Dub January 8, 2012 at 1:59 am

She’s biracial but, like Paula Patton, defines herself as “Black/African American”. I’m surprised no one has commented about that.

andrew September 7, 2013 at 7:13 pm

she stated this:

“I mean, yes, my father is Italian and English, and my mother’s got Indian in her, but when you look at my parents you see Black and White–two halves. When you look at his parents, you see Asian and Black.

I was raised around both my parents, and I knew that my father is White and my mother is Black, but I never thought that I was anything but Black. I think being Black is a wonderful thing to claim.”

She is a beautiful lady.

this site is weird December 29, 2011 at 7:42 pm

She played in “Souix City” as a Native American as she usually does.

Candice January 5, 2012 at 9:02 am

I always thought she was Native American and African American. I was floored when I found out she was biracial. She is one of the most exotic looking biracial girls I have seen, she doesn’t have the standard look biracial people have and her skin and hair are gorgeous!

MochaLadyMJJ December 28, 2011 at 11:27 pm

All that I can say is that she is sooo pretty.
