Jacksone Browne is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He has sold over 18 million albums in the U.S.

Jackson was born in Heidelberg, Germany, to American parents, Beatrice Amanda (Dahl) and Clyde Jack Browne. His father was a U.S. serviceman, stationed in Germany, and his mother was a secretary and stenographer at German war crime trials. His father was born in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, of English, and some Welsh and German, ancestry. His mother was born in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, to Norwegian parents. His family moved to Los Angeles when he was a small child.

He has a son with his former wife, actress and model Phyllis Major; and a son with his former wife, Australian model Lynne Sweeney.

Jackson’s paternal grandfather was Clyde Nelson Browne (the son of Frederick William Browne and Diantha Rose Lewis). Clyde was born in Wayne County, Ohio, to parents from New York. Frederick was the son of Allis Brown and Abigail Howell. Diantha was the daughter of William Nelson Lewis and Ann B. Flanders, who was born in Hereford, Québec, Canada, to American parents.

Jackson’s paternal grandmother was Edith Grace Wassum (the daughter of John H. Wassum and Jane/Jennie A. Jones). Edith was born in Cloverdale, Sonoma, California. John was the son of Jacob Wassum and Sally Johns. Jackson’s Wassum line can be traced to Leonhart Wassum, who was born, c. 1733, in Bergstrasse, Germany.

Jackson’s maternal grandfather was Jens Severin Marius Dahl/Antonsen (the son of Anton Johansen Prestvik and Anna Kristine Johannesdatter). Jens was born in Sorådalen, Nærøy, Nord Trøndelag fylke, Norway. Anton was the son of Johan Hartvig Andreassen Prestvik and Stina/Stine Gurine Iversdatter Fosså. Anna was the daughter of Johannes Iversen and Sesilie/Cecilia Pedersdotter/Pedersdatter.

Jackson’s maternal grandmother was named Margruth/Margaret Haugan. Margruth was born in Luster, Nord Trøndelag fylke, Norway.
