Wilford Brimley was an American actor and singer. He is known for starring in the film Cocoon (1985), as one of the senior citizens, as well as The Natural and The China Syndrome, among many others.

Wilford was the son of Lola Samantha (Nelson) and Wilford Charles Brimley. His father was of half English and half Scottish descent. His mother was of half Danish ancestry, with her other roots being Welsh, English, German, and Swiss-German, and distant Irish and Scottish. He was from an LDS (Mormon) household.

Wilford was married to Lynne Bagley, until her death, and then to Beverly Berry, until his death. He had four children with Lynne.

Wilford’s paternal grandfather was William Jedediah/Jeddadiah Brimley (the son of Richard Brimley and Ann/Anna Southworth). William was born in Wigan, Lancashire, England. Richard was the son of John Brimley and Rachel Whittle. Ann was the daughter of Sylvester/Silvester Southworth and Ann Clitherow/Clitheroe.

Wilford’s paternal grandmother was Margaret Kirk (the daughter of Samuel Kirk and Margaret Cameron Fisher). Wilford’s grandmother Margaret was born in Utah, to parents who were born in Glasgow, Scotland. Samuel was the son of William Kirk and Jane/Jean Hendry. Margaret was the daughter of Robert or Andrew Fisher and Agnes Cameron/Wallace.

Wilford’s maternal grandfather was Heber/Herber Christian Nelson (the son of Soren Christian Sorensen Nelson and Ann Josephine Evans). Heber was born in Idaho. Soren was Danish, born in Aalborg, and was the son of Søren Nielson/Nelson/Nielsen and Christiana Larsdatter/Larsen Hailsen. Ann was born in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Welsh parents, David M. Evans and Sarah Mathias.

Wilford’s maternal grandmother was Samantha Madsen (the daughter of Anton Peter Jacobsen Madsen and Elizabeth Mary Jane Nelson). Samantha was born in Idaho. Anton was Danish, born in Rostrup, Aalborg, Nordjylland, the son of Jacob Christensen Madsen and Dorothea Christine/Christin Jensen Hansdatter. Elizabeth had deep roots in the United States, the daughter of Thomas Billington Nelson, who had English, and distant Irish, Scottish, and Welsh, ancestry, and of Mary Catherine Welker, who was of German and Swiss-German descent.
