Toomas Hendrik Ilves is an Estonian politician. He served as the 4th President of Estonia, from 9 October, 2006 to 10 October, 2016. He was also Minister of Foreign Affairs, from November 1996 to October 1998, and again, from 25 March, 1999 to 28 January, 2002.
His parents, Irene (Rebane) and Endel Ilves, were Estonian refugees. He is married to Latvian civil servant Ieva Kupce. He has two children with his former wife, American psychologist Merry Bullock; a daughter with his former wife, Evelin Int; and a son with Ieva.
Toomas Hendrik’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced to his sixth great-grandfather, Hans Ilves (died 8 December 1745 in Mõtsu, Varbla Parish, Pärnu County).
Toomas Hendrik’s paternal grandfather was Priidik Ilves (the son of Kaarel Ilves and Mari Lemmergas). Priidik was born in Hanila/Hannell, Läänemaa. Kaarel was the son of Toomas Ilves and Liisu Mathiesen. Mari was the daughter of Madis Lemmergas amd Liisu Anepaio.

Peeter was born in Ärma talu, Vana-Kariste, Viljandi County, Estonia, the son of Peeter Rebane and Kadri Käevart. Aleksandra was born in Jaroslav, Russia, the daughter of Vassili Tšistoganov.
