Thurman Munson was an American professional baseball player. A catcher, he played 11 seasons for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Thurman was the son of Ruth Myrna (Smylie) and Darrell Vernon Munson. He was married to Diana Dominick, until his death, with whom he had three children.

Thurman’s paternal grandfather was Vernon M. Munson (the son of Perry Munson and Emily Rogers). Vernon was born in Harrisville, Medina, Ohio. Perry was the son of Samuel R. Munson and Maria Stockwell. Emily was the daughter of Perez Rogers and Polly Phelps.

Thurman’s paternal grandmother was Hazel L. Jones (the daughter of Thomas Dexter Jones and Zelia Mary Trudeau). Hazel was born in New York. Zelia was the daughter of Edward Trudeau and Zelia Newtown, who were born in Québec, Canada.

Thurman’s maternal grandfather was William Howard Smylie (the son of John Martin Smylie and Louisa Nancy Reynard). William was born in Ohio. John was the son of John Martin Smylie, Sr. and Julie Ann Cox. Louisa was the daughter of William John Reynard and Julia Pittis.
