Her surname Clark comes from her stepfather. She was raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Terri’s paternal grandfather was Oliver Raymond/Ray Sauson (the son of Edward Lewis Sauson and Florence Walker). Oliver was born in Québec, and is pictured here. Edward was born in Québec. Florence was born in either Québec or New Brunswick, the daughter of Andrew Huntington Walker and Sarah Jane Travers.

Terri’s paternal grandmother was Dorothy Mary Watt (the daughter of Hugh Allan Watt and Ida May Watt). Dorothy was born in Québec. Hugh was born in Québec, the son of Hugh Watt, whose parents were Northern Irish. Ida was born in Québec.

Terri’s maternal grandfather was Raymond Jean Louis “Ray” Gauthier (the son of Pierre Placide Gauthier and Sarah Carpentier). Raymond was born in Manitoba. Terri’s maternal grandmother was Gladys Viola Sharples (the daughter of Albert Charles Sharples and Cecile Chartrand). Gladys was born in Manitoba. Albert was born in Preston, Lancashire, England, the son of John Henry Sharples and Grace Elizabeth Whalley. Cecile was born in Manitoba, the daughter of Paul/Paulet Chartrand and Madeleine Malette.

Terri’s great-grandmother Cecile Chartrand and her family were listed as “Cree F B” on the 1901 Canada Census. Her father, Terri’s great-great-grandfather Paul/Paulet Chartrand, was Métis, and was mostly of French-Canadian, Cree, and Salteaux Native Canadian descent. Her mother, Terri’s great-great-grandmother Madeleine Malette, was the daughter of a French-Canadian father and a Native Canadian mother from the Red River region.
