Teemu Selänne is a Finnish professional ice hockey player. He was a right winger. Teemu scored 1457 points in the National Hockey League (NHL), and is regarded as one of the greatest hockey players of all time. He is nicknamed “The Finnish Flash.”

Teemu is the son of Lilsa Viltanen and Ilmari Selänne. He is married to Sirpa, with whom he has four children.

Teemu’s paternal grandfather was Paavo Fredrik Selänne (the son of Fredrik Selén/Selänne and Alma Irene Jakobsson). Paavo was born in Porvoo, Finland. Fredrik was the son of Elias Selén and Ulrika Eufrosyne Malenius. Alma was the daughter of Frans Jakob Jakobsson and Maria Kristina Kerttula.

Teemu’s paternal grandmother was Elsa Ingeborg Wallin (the daughter of August Reinhold Waldemar Wallin and Alma Alina Henriksdotter Henriksson). Elsa was born in Mäntsälä, Finland. August was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, to Finnish parents, Reinhold Henriksson Wallin and Beda Josefina Lindroos. Alma was the daughter of Johan Viktor Henriksson and Erika Magdalenasdotter Toivander.

Teemu’s maternal grandfather was Eemil Rikhard Viitanen (the son of Wiktor Ludvig Wiitanen and Maria Erikintytär Laukkanen). Eemil was born in Kalksalo, Jaakkima, Finland. Wiktor was the son of Maria Loviisa Efraimintytär. Maria was the daughter of Erik Petterinpoika Laukkanen and Catharina Juhantytär Poutanen.

Teemu’s maternal grandmother was named Vieno Dagmar Salonen.
