Brock Nelson is an American professional ice hockey player. He plays for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL).

His uncle Dave Christian, his grandfather, Bill Christian, and his great-uncles, Gordon Christian and Roger Christian, were all professional hockey players. Bill and Roger founded Christian Brothers, a company that made hockey sticks. Brock is married to Karley Sylvester, with whom he has two children. Karley was a Ms. Hockey.

Brock’s paternal grandfather was Curtis Leroy Nelson (the son of Harold Arthur Nelson and Alice Elizabeth Nelson). Harold was born in Iowa, the son of Andrew Edmond Nelson and Caroline Emma Johanna Hoeppner. Alice was born in Minnesota, to Swedish parents, Peter Hokan Nelson and Gerda Matilda Erickson.

Brock’s paternal grandmother is Arlene Helen Clifford (the daughter of Thomas Clifford and Emma Wilhelmina Haikonen). Thomas was born in Minnesota, the son of John Henry Clifford and Myrtle M. Beers. Emma was born in Minnesota, the daughter of Finnish parents, Matts Israelsson Haikonen and Anna Matilda Niemela.

Brock’s maternal grandfather is Bill Christian (William David Christian). Bill was born in Minnesota.
