She was raised in University City, San Diego.

Sara’s paternal grandfather was Jack Wolfkind (the son of Izaak Wolfkind and Nachama Wagier). Jack was born in Poland, to a Jewish family, and was raised in Hazlet Township, New Jersey, from a young age. He fought in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Sara’s paternal grandmother was Betty Teitelbaum (the daughter of Morris Teitelbaum and Sarah Goldfield). Betty was born in Manhattan, New York, to Polish Jewish parents. Morris was the son of Marcus Teitelbaum and Eega Koledny. Sarah was the daughter of Max Goldfield and Esther Ladizinsky.
