Richard Gadd is a Scottish comedian, actor, and writer. He created, wrote, and starred in, the show Baby Reindeer.

He is the son of Julia, a school secretary, and British-Irish microbiologist and mycologist Geoffrey Michael Gadd, who specializes in geomicrobiology, geomycology, and bioremediation. His father was born in Oswestry, Shropshire, England.

Richard’s patrilineal line can be traced to Thomas Gadd, who was born, c. 1786, in St. Chad, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.

Richard’s paternal grandfather was Gerald Victor Gadd (the son of George Thomas Horatio Gadd and Victoria Amelia Shillcock). Gerald was born in Nairobi, Ukhamba, Kenya, to English-born parents. George was born in Nelson, Lancashire, the son of George Henry Gadd and Jane Ann Davies, who was from Llanfair Caereinion, Montgomeryshire, Wales. Richard’s great-grandmother Victoria was born in Winwick St, Warrington, Lancashire, the daughter of Joseph Shillcock and Amelia Victoria Reynolds.

Richard’s paternal grandmother was Mary Gertrude Beatrice Gravenor (the daughter of Geoffrey Alexander Gravenor and Mary Ellen McCrink). Richard’s grandmother Mary was born in Bedwellty, Monmouthshire, Wales. Geoffrey was the son of Llewelyn Phineas Fisher Griffith Gravenor, who was born on Jersey, Channel Islands; and of Mary Ann Gravenor. Richard’s great-grandmother Mary Ellen was born in Newry, Ireland, the daughter of Michael McCrink Toal and Mary O’Hagan Kearney.
