Peter Medak is a Hungarian-born director, working mainly in British and American productions. He has directed the films Negatives, A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, The Ruling Class, Ghost in the Noonday Sun, The Odd Job, The Changeling (1980), Zorro, The Gay Blade; The Men’s Club, The Krays, Let Him Have It, Romeo Is Bleeding, Pontiac Moon, Species II, and The Ghost of Peter Sellers; the made-for-tv movies The Third Girl from the Left, The Babysitter (1980), Cry for the Strangers, The Hunchback (1997), David Copperfield (2000), Sex and Lies in Sin City, and Dating Game Killer; and episodes of the shows Hart to Hart, Faerie Tale Theatre, and Hannibal.
He was born in Budapest, the son of Elisabeth (Diamounstein) and Gyula Medák, a textile manufacturer. He left for the U.K. due to the 1956 Hungarian Uprising. Peter was married to Katherine LaKermance, until her death. He has two children with Katherine, and two children with his second wife, British actress Carolyn Seymour.
