Peter Jackson is a New Zealand film director, screenwriter, and film producer. He is known as the director, writer, and producer of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. He won the Academy Award for Best Director for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003).
Peter was born in Wellington, New Zealand, the son of Gwendolene Joan (Ruck) and William Arthur “Bill” Jackson. His parents were English immigrants. He is married to New Zealand screenwriter, film producer, and lyricist Fran Walsh, with whom he has two children. Peter and Fran have worked together on their movies.
