Paul Stookey is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He was a member of folk group Peter, Paul and Mary, alongside Mary Travers and Peter Yarrow.
Paul is the son of Dorothea Magdalen (St. Aubrey) and George William Stookey. He is married to Elizabeth “Betty” Bannard, with whom he has three children.
Paul’s paternal grandfather was Mahonri Moreancumer Stookey (the son of Enos Stookey and Jemima Elizabeth Child). Mahonri was born in Utah. Enos was born in Belleville, Illinois, the son of Moses Stookey and Elizabeth Anderson, and had German, English, and Scottish ancestry. Jemima was born in London, England, the daughter of John Child and Eliza Newport.
Paul’s paternal grandmother was Matilda Jefferies (the daughter of William Jefferies and Mary Francis Ould). Matilda was born in Utah.
