Peter Yarrow is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and activist. He was a member of folk group Peter, Paul and Mary, alongside Paul Stookey and Mary Travers.
Peter is the son of Vera (born Vira) Wisebrode (Burtakoff) and Bernard Yarrow (born Yaroshevitch/Yaroshevitz). His parents were Ukrainian Jewish immigrants. His father was a district attorney and served in the Office of Strategic Services during WWII. His mother was a speech and drama teacher. His stepfather, Harold Wisebrode, was executive director of the Central Synagogue in Manhattan.
Peter has two children with his former wife Mary Beth McCarthy. Mary Beth is the niece of politician Eugene McCarthy.
