Date of Birth: 13 January, 1977

Orlando Bloom is an English actor. His roles include the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean films, as well as Ned Kelly (2003), Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Elizabethtown, New York, I Love You, and The Three Musketeers (2011).

Orlando’s mother, Sonia Constance Josephine (Copeland), was born in Calcutta, India, and is of English, with some Scottish and Northern Irish, descent. Orlando was raised believing that his legal father, Harry Bloom, was also his biological father. Harry was a Jewish South African journalist and novelist. During his teens, Orlando was told by his mother that his biological father is Colin Stone, who is English. Harry and Sonia, who together could not have biological children, had agreed that Colin would be the biological father of Sonia’s children.

Orlando has a son with his former wife, Australian model Miranda Kerr; and a daughter with his fiancée, American singer and songwriter Katy Perry.

Orlando practices Buddhism.

Orlando’s biological paternal grandfather was Henry/Harry Stone (the son of Robert Byatt Stone and Bessie Agnes Meech). Henry was born in Weymouth, Dorset, England. Robert was the son of John Robert Flew Stone and Elizabeth Chaddock. Bessie was the daughter of Frederick George Meech and Emily Pullman.

Orlando’s biological paternal grandmother was Lilian/Lillian Morris (the daughter of Walter William Dennison Morris and Lily Rosina Crabb). Orlando’s grandmother Lilian was born in Weymouth, Dorset, England. Walter was the son of Walter Gibbs Morris and Lydia Catherine Philips Symes. Orlando’s great-grandmother Lily was the daughter of Jesse/Jessie Crabb and Susan Cox.

Orlando’s maternal grandfather was Francis John Copeland (the son of Isaac Copeland and Mary Cairns). Francis likely was born in Belfast, Ireland, and was a physician and surgeon. Isaac was the son of John Copeland and Mary Ann/Anne Cowan, and was of Northern Irish descent. Orlando’s great-grandmother Mary was the daughter of Samuel Cairns, who was born in Kelso, Roxburghshire, Scotland, and of Isabella/Isabel Scott.

Orlando’s maternal grandmother was Betty Constance Josephine Walker (the daughter of Frederic/Frederick Percy Walker and Iris Mary Constance Good). Frederic was born in Calcutta, India, the son of Frederic/Frederick Walker, who was born in Tasmania, Australia or Calcutta, to English parents; and of Eva Isabella Connew/Conneu, who was born in Calcutta, to an English father, and to a mother who was of at least part Scottish ancestry. Orlando’s great-grandmother Iris was born in Edmonton, Middlesex, England, the daughter of Arthur Madgewick Good and Jessica/Jessie Louisa Foley. Some of Orlando’s ancestors had been born in Assam, India, as well as Tasmania and Melbourne, Australia, and were of English/British Isles descent.

Why do so many people think the English are primarily blonde? Most have some shade of brown hair and brown/hazel eyes are found in nearly half of the native population! Not all look like standard ‘Anglo-Saxon/viking’ sterotypes because a hefty proportion aren’t descended from them. Western England (not just Cornwall but neighbouring counties) has lots of ‘native’ ancestry, more like the Welsh genetically. They are also darker than people in eastern England. Orlando actually does look kind of Welsh.
As for the guy who said most looke like Wayne Rooney–well Rooney is of Irish ancestry but he doesn’t even look like the average Irishman. His pugly looks are frequently made fun of in the press, which is unlikely to happen if ‘loads’ of people looked like that.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT MAYBE HE WAS A PERCENTAGE OF SOUTHERN EUROPEAN EXTRACTION, SINCE, HIS NAME WAS ORLANDO AND OF HIS SWARTHY FEATURES. HE COULD BE HAVE BLACK IRISH BLOOD ROOTS, SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE…WHICH IS VERY PLAUSIBLE, SINCE, A LOT OF BRITS ARE MIX WITH THEIR NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES… LIKE SCOTLAND, IRELAND, WALES, SINCE, FROM BACK IN THE DAY , ESP. ROYAL MARRIAGES. TO ME…. IT SOUNDS LIKE ORLANDO REALLY DOESN’T KNOW OR MAYBE, HE REALLY DOESN’T HAVE THAT MUCH INTEREST IN FINDING OUT. WHICH IS WHY HE CONSIDERS HIMSELF JUST BRITISH.

he is a very dark haired/featured brit !!!! Wayne Rooney is more typical, but yeah he’s still white but more Italian/Greek looking !

The concept of racial purity is more a matter of ancestral amnesia than historical fact. Recent advances in genetic sequencing of ancient bones have shown that the ancient Greeks looked much like their modern counterparts (i.e. mostly dark-haired and olive-skinned), and there is little reason to believe that the same doesn’t apply to the Romans.

The Finns are a very pure group, and have been rewarded for extensive (albeit often unintentional) inbreeding with some 30 genetic diseases found almost nowhere else in the world.

Have you ever been to Africa or Asia? People on these continents are as diverse and mixed as those of Europe, or even more so – especially in Africa, as the cradle of mankind.
