Mexicans are multi-racial (like bi-racial Americans), it is also a nationality – like Welsh or Italian. I say Nick Diaz is more Californian since the American label is too vague. Races are like Asian, African, and Caucasian. You don’t have to be part of a “race” to be part of a nationality. It’s confusing to call a 3rd generation Irish-American just Irish. There are “Mexicans” in the U.S. that have never even visited the actual country.
@WinterNight666 i am finnish and i am definitely not saami :) oh and when i say finnish i mean i actually live in finland and all of my relatives are finnish, not “finnish-american”
@Susan Irish isn’t a race??!?!?! So I guess Celtic and Gaelic are just labels??? Go up to someone from Ireland and tell them they aren’t Celtic or Gaelic and see if you don’t get punched in the face, or at least laughed at. Go up to an Italian in Italy and tell them they aren’t part of the “Italic” race or go up to a French person and tell them they aren’t part of the “Frankish” race. Go up to a Russian and tell them they aren’t part of the “Rus” or “Slavic”, go up to a Pol and tell them they aren’t a “Slav”, go up to a Finnish person and tell them they aren’t “Saami”, go up to a Swede or a Norse and tell them they aren’t “Scandinavian”, go up to a German and tell them they aren’t part of the “Germanic” race. Where did you learn history, Berkeley?
Finnish people are not ethnically related to saami people, how can you not know that?
Mexican isn’t a race. I’m an American national but my folks are from Germany and Sweden. Most Mexicans are Spanish/French, natives or mestizo.
Irish isn’t a race either, but we call people Irish. Same with Italian, French, etc. I don’t know why some people get so freaked out whenever anybody is called Mexican. They need to get over it.
