Regarding her upbringing, Miriam has stated:

I like to say I’m Jew-ish, because I’m half Jewish but not really religious, but that’s sort of the culture. I went back and forth between Detroit and Italy when I was growing up. The Southern Christianity is very “other” for me.

Miriam’s paternal grandfather was Martin R. Shor (the son of Samuel Shor and Eva Richman). Martin was born in Pennsylvania, to a Romanian Jewish father and a Russian Jewish mother.

I think the Margaret F. Bleyberg mentioned here is Miriam’s mother:

This woman was also born in July 1945 as Margaret Leanne Forsman and lived in Minnesota. Seems like too many coincidences.

    In that case:

Miriam’s maternal grandfather was Ralph Elof Forsman (the son of Gustaf Olof Forsman and Helen Amanda Hanson). Gustaf was born in Sjulsmark, Norrbotten, Sweden. Helen was the daughter of Ole Christian Hanson, who was born in Gran, Oppland, Norway, and of Anne “Karine” Hanson Furua, whose parents were Norwegian.
