Miriam Margolyes is a British and Australian character actress and voice artist. She became an Australian citizen in 2013. Miriam is the daughter of Ruth (Sandeman/Walters) and Joseph Margolyes. Her father was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and her mother was born in England. Her parents were both Jewish.

Miriam’s paternal grandfather was Philip Margolyes (the son of Simon Margolyes and Golda/Goldie Goldstone). Philip was born in Belarus. Golda was the daughter of Joseph Goldstone.

Miriam’s paternal grandmother was Rebecca Turiansky (the daughter of Bernard Turiansky and Sarah Gelbord). Rebecca was born in Russia.
