Mats Hummels is a German professional footballer. He plays as a centre-back for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, and the Germany national team.
Mats was born in Bergisch Gladbach, the son of Ulla Holthoff, a sports journalist and professional water polo player, and Hermann Hummels, a footballer and manager. His brother is professional footballer Jonas Hummels. Mats’ parents are both German, his father from Hamm, Nordrhein-Westfalen, and his mother from Welver, also in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Mats is married to Cathy Fischer, with whom he has a son.
