Martha Scott was an American actress.

Martha was the daughter of Letha and Walter Alva Scott, who was an engineer and garage owner. She was married to jazz pianist and composer Mel Powell, until his death. She had a son with her former husband, radio producer and announcer Carleton William Alsop; and two children with Mel.

Martha’s mother was said to be a second cousin of U.S. President William McKinley. It is not clear if this is accurate.

Martha’s paternal grandfather was Martin Alexander Scott (the son of John Martin Scott and Mary Caroline Dinnel/Dinnell). Martin was born in Missouri. John was the son of Elder Martin Scott and Mary Polly Maxwell. Martha’s great-grandmother Mary was the daughter of Thomas Washington Dinnel and Lucinda Grey.

Martha’s paternal grandmother was Clara Ellen Endicott (the daughter of Jacob James Endicott and Cassie/Cassa Ann Mikels). Clara was born in Missouri. Jacob was the son of James Harrison Endicott and Elizabeth Jane Miller. Cassie was the daughter of Thomas Hudspeth Mikels and Deborah Cravens.

Martha’s maternal grandfather was Dr. Charles Gordon McKinley (the son of Edmond Randolph McKinley and Caroline/Carolina Elizabeth Reed). Charles was born in Virginia or West Virginia. Edmond was the son of Thomas McKinley and Sarah Stuart/Stewart. Caroline was the daughter of Stephen Reed and Catherine/Catharine Blake.

Martha’s maternal grandmother was Martha Maria Thorpe (the daughter of John/Mazor Thorpe and Lydia Morgan). Martha was born in West Virginia. Lydia was the daughter of Joshua Morgan and Hannah Bartlett Gould.
