Kristen Schaal is an American actress, comedian, and writer. Her roles include The Last Man on Earth, Bob’s Burgers, BoJack Horseman, The Daily Show, and Bill & Ted Face the Music.

She was raised on her family’s cattle ranch near Boulder. Kristen’s father’s family were ethnic Germans, of the Lutheran faith, who lived in Russia for many generations. Her surname is pronounced shôl.

Kristen is married to writer and producer Rich Blomquist, with whom she has a daughter.

Kristen’s paternal grandfather was Carl Andrew Schaal (the son of Samuel Schaal and Dorothea “Dora” Bauder). Carl was born in Bethune, Colorado. Samuel was born in Teplitz, Bess, South Russia, the son of Johannas Schaal and Maria Barbara Kehrer. Dorothea was born in Seabach, Russia, the daughter of Andreas Bauder and Christina Ottenbacher.

Kristen’s paternal grandmother was Martha Marie Schlichenmayer (the daughter of John Schlichenmayer and Anna Jacober). Martha was born in Bethune, Colorado. John was born in Birsula, South Russia, the son of Jacob Schlichenmayer and Margaretha Kiensle. Anna was born in Glueckstahl, South Russia, the daughter of John Jacober and Marie Matteis.

Kristen’s maternal grandfather was William Newton Hood (the son of Thurman E. Hood and Marie Duwa). William was born in Iowa. Thurman had English ancestry, and was the son of James Siminous Hood and Mary C. Linn. Marie was of German descent, and was the daughter of Joseph Edward Duwa and Edeth M. Freund.

Kristen’s maternal grandmother was Alice J. Grabowski (the daughter of Frank Grabowski and Magdalena/Magdaline M. Serwon/Serwan). Alice’s parents were Polish. Frank was from Powiat opolski, Opolskie. Magdalena was from Lubelskie, the daughter of Jozef Serwon.
