Julien was born on Saint-Pierre, Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, an overseas French territory off the coast off Newfoundland, Canada. His brother is professional mixed martial artist Denis Kang. His family moved to the Canary Islands and, in 1988, to North Vancouver, British Columbia. He holds Canadian and French citizenship. He works in Korea. Julien is married to fitness influencer JJ.
