Johnny Unitas was an American professional football player. A quarterback, he played primarily for the Baltimore Colts, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Diego Chargers, for a total of eighteen seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was a record-setting quarterback, and the NFL’s most valuable player in 1959, 1964, and 1967. He was nicknamed “Johnny U” and “The Golden Arm.”
Johnny was the son of Helen and Francis J. Unitas. He was married to Sandra Lemon, until his death. He had five children with his former wife Dorothy Hoelle; and three children with Sandra.
