Joel Courtney is an American actor. He is known for starring as Joe Lamb in the film Super 8 (2011), and for his role as Lee Flynn in the film The Kissing Booth.

He was raised in Moscow, Idaho.

Joel’s maternal grandfather was John Neil Matthews (the son of John Jordan Mathews and Ruth Ayres). Joel’s grandfather John was born in Illinois. Joel’s great-grandfather John was the son of John Jordan Mathews and Minnie Estelle Sturm. Ruth was the daughter of Henry Eaton Ayres and May D./Roby Wear.

Joel’s maternal grandmother was Nella Louise Hammack (the daughter of John Harley Hammack and Nellie Ravenstein). Nella was born in Illinois. John was the son of William H. Hammack and Lizzie Orabelle Trefftzs. Nellie was the daughter of George W. Ravenstein, whose father was from Hanover, Germany, and of Mary Edna Hallock.
