She was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her mother, Joyce Resin, hosted the show Alive: The Picture of Health on CBC. Her sister, Amanda Grace, is a reporter and anchor. Jessi is married to Evan Gatica.

Jessi’s paternal grandfather was named Ross Alexander Cruickshank.

Jessi’s paternal grandmother was Moneta Ila Stinson (the daughter of James Stinson and Alice Pearl Gertrude Stonehouse). Alice was the daughter of Enos Stonehouse, whose father was from North Yorkshire, England, and of Anna Raymer.
