Jeanette MacDonald was an American singer and actress. She was a major star in the 1930s and 1940s, headlining The Love Parade, Love Me Tonight, The Merry Widow, One Hour With You, San Francisco, Naughty Marietta, and Maytime. She often appeared with Maurice Chevalier and Nelson Eddy.

Jeanette was the daughter of Anna May/Mae (Wright) and Daniel MacDonald, who was a factory foreman and salesman for a contracting company. Her sister was actress Blossom Rock (born Edith Marie Blossom McDonald). Jeanette was married to actor Gene Raymond, until her death.

Jeanette’s paternal grandfather was named Charles McDonald. Charles was born in Pennsylvania, and was an actor and opera singer.

Jeanette’s paternal grandmother was named Jeanette Johnson. Jeanette was Scottish.
