Jack O’Connell is a British-Irish actor. His roles include the films This Is England, Eden Lake, Harry Brown, Weekender, Tower Block, Private Peaceful, The Liability, Starred Up, ’71, 300: Rise of an Empire, Unbroken, Money Monster, The Man with the Iron Heart, Tulip Fever, Trial by Fire, Seberg, Jungleland, Little Fish, Lady Chatterley’s Lover (2022), Ferrari, and Back to Black; the series The Bill, Skins, The Runaway, Godless, The North Water, and SAS: Rogue Heroes; and the made-for-tv movies Dive and United (2011).

Jack’s father, John Patrick O’Connell, was Irish, from Ballyheigue, County Kerry. Jack’s mother, Alison (Gutteridge), is English. He strongly identifies with his Irish heritage. His father worked on the railways for Bombardier. His mother worked for British Midland. His sister, Megan, has also acted.

Jack’s paternal grandfather was named Thomas Patrick O’Connell.

Jack’s maternal grandfather was Kenneth Harold “Ken” Gutteridge (the son of John William Edward Gutteridge and Annie Goode). Kenneth was born in Derby, Derbyshire, England, and was a footballer for, and later manager of, Burton Albion FC. John was the son of John William Gutteridge and Henrietta Critchley. Annie was the daughter of William Goode and Mary Hand.

Jack’s maternal grandmother was named Joan Southall.
