Ian is the son of Sharon Louise (French) and Stephan Andrew Hecox. Ian’s ancestry is one eighth Portuguese, at least one sixteenth Scottish, smaller amounts of German and Dutch, and the remainder being English or mostly English.
Ian’s paternal grandfather was Donald A. Hecox (the son of Andrew S. Hecox and Lena M. Powers). Andrew was the son of William W. Hecox and Ella Adelia/Adelin Vanwoert/Danvoert/Vanwert. Adelia’s mother, Elizabeth Tredenborg, was German, and her father, Stephen Vanwert, likely had Dutch ancestry. Lena was the daughter of Fred Powers and Pearl May Burgess/Burger.
