Hikaru Utada (Japanese: 宇多田 ヒカル) is a Japanese-American singer, songwriter, and producer. She sold more than 50 million records. She is also known as Utada, Hikki, and Cubic U.

Hikaru Utada was born in New York, to Japanese parents, Keiko Fuji (born Junko Abe), a popular Enka singer and actress, and Teruzane Utada, a music producer. Her father is from Yamaguchi, and her mother was born in Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture. She has a son with her former husband Francesco Calianno. Her maternal grandparents, Tsuyoshi Abe and Sumiko Takeyama, were traditional rōkyoku musicians.
